He is close to having the US show recommissioned for 2015 after it was dropped from the schedules this year because of plunging ratings.

Executives at his company Syco are in the final stages of securing a deal – most likely back with Fox – after staff put together a new proposal which has been “well received”.

It means Simon, 55, who returned to the British judging panel this year with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, may leave the UK – as he did in 2010 when the US show first launched.

He is believed to be eager to sign up singer Nicole Scherzinger, 36, who was a judge on the UK show for two series.

Simon's delusional if he thinks he can make X Factor work again in the US. It suffered last time because of ratings, what will make it different this time around?

X Factor didn't even work with the likes of Britney Spears on it. Simon has no chance.
If he asks Cole to be on it as well.. It's guaranteed to fail. The americans didn't take well to her. Probably saw straight through her as nothing that special. Thousands of girls just as pretty as her in the US.
